Run at Joe’s
On Saturday May 19th Joe Morgan invited everyone down to run trains at his place. “N” scale in the basement and “G” in the back yard. Joe has done a lot of work on both layouts and they look great. Those of us who showed up had a good time operating on both systems. Funny how that larger scale is getting bantered around more & more.

Steam up at Colorado Railroad Museum
The club will be going to the steam up at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden on July 22nd. For those interested in going we will meet at the Monument Park & Ride at 9 am and carpool from there. The cost are Adults - $8, Seniors (60 and over) $7, Children 16 & under $5, Children under 2 free. Mark your calendars and we’ll see you at the Park & Ride.

Camping Trip
Chris and Connie have invited the club to have a campout at their property on the weekend of August 25th. The plan is to explore the remnants of the D&RG Grape Creek branch. Then we’ll head over to Texas Creek and explore parts of that branch. When silver was discovered in Silver Cliff the need for a railroad became evident. The Rio Grande responded by building a branch line through Grape Creek and stopping just short of Silver Cliff started their own town of Westcliffe. This branch was washed out a few times so the branch was moved to Texas Creek. The Texas Creek line parallels highway 69 to Westcliffe. Some of it can still be seen from the highway.
We are looking for a head count on how many people wish to participate so as to arrange facilities and there is limited camping space. The July and August Railhead will have more information on the trip.

Western Museum of Mining & Industry Show
For those scheduled to load the MTL, we will meet at 4 pm at storage, load and then head for the Museum. Other club members will meet us there when they get off work to help setup. The operations schedule for the weekend for the weekend will be setup at this time. The show is from 9 am to 5 pm June 8, 9, & 10.

Swap Meet & Train Show
As of this writing the club has not heard from any of the vendors. A follow up letter will be sent out shortly. It was decided that if we did not hear from any of the vendors by August 15th the club would cancel the show. The club is looking for sponsors for the show, so if you know of anyone who may wish to be a sponsor let the club know.
