Cumbre & Toltec Railroad Trip
There is a signup sheet on the club bulletin board for this trip. We will be doing the trip number six. This is Chama to Antonito by train. Return by motor coach. The train departs at 10 am and arrives at 5:45 pm. The cost is $79 for Adults and $39.50 for children 2 to 11. The fare pays for the train trip, lunch at Osier and the bus trip back to Chama.

I called around and the best price for hotel rooms was for the Chama Station Inn. The reservation number is (888) 726-8150. Tell them you are with a train club in the Springs and a friend of C&T to receive a 15% discount. Your room should be $63.75 + 7.17 tax per night. All rooms are the same price weather for 1 person or 4. They only have nine rooms. Another hotel is the Chama Trails Inn. Their rooms go for 1 person - $65 + tax, 2 people 1 bed - $75 +tax, 2 people -2 beds - $80 + tax, 3 people - $85 + tax and 4 people 90 + tax. They also have a suite of three queen size beds for $135 + tax. Be sure to get your reservations for September 19 & 20.

For those carpooling down, the meeting place is the Nevada Park & Ride under I-25 between Tejon & Nevada at 5 pm. When everyone who has signed up has arrived and into carpool we will leave. To get the group rate we have to have 20 paid people by July 19. The reservations will require 15% down, ½ the balance 60 days before the trip and the balance two weeks before the trip. If we do not go with the group we can extend payment period to the august business meeting. All moneys for the trip should into Chris at this time. The reason for this is we have to pay for the trip at the time we make the reservations.

ARM Conference
In order for the club to do this show we need at least 5 people to setup on Wednesday September 10 and run train from 5 to 8 pm. We will load the MTL at 2 pm and head to the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This should give a little over 2 hours to setup and get things running. Now for the hard part! We are required to run trains from 7 to 11 am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with tear down after the Saturday run. Mary & I will be there all four days. If you can run trains during one of the mornings please sign up at the club so we can get a count. If we do not have enough people to do this show we’ll have to cancel. For those working the morning shifts, breakfast is available for $5 per person. This is a buffet style meal.

Denver, South Park & Pacific
This will be a day trip starting at the Woodmen & I-25 Park & Ride at 8 am on Saturday August 9. We will carpool to Denver and then trace the ROW to Como. I should have an itinerary written up by then.

Combined Picnic in Palmer Lake
For those wish a little train watching and railroad stories attend the combined picnic on Saturday August 23. The time is from 10:30 am to whenever. It is the Denver club’s turn to bring the meat and do the cooking. We will need to get a head count for them so they know how much to bring. There is a signup sheet on the club bulletin board. Our club will bring side dishes. See you there!!!

For Sale
For you B&O fans Ron has a 1930’s Capitol Limited and a 1940’s Capitol Limited for sale. Go on down and look at it maybe one of them is the set you need for your collection.

If anyone has something they want to sell or advertise let me know and I’ll put it in the Railhead.

TRAIN WRECK
John Corrillo caught this site along Hwy 85-87 on June 18 in the morning. These cars were in the middle of the train. Note the wooden ties. Thank you for the photos John.

Missing Articles
I will add the Limon Railroad Day and the Western Museum of Mining & Industry show articles to the August Railhead as I did not receive them in time for this publication. I am always looking for photo’s, stories or other articles to put in the Railhead.
