MTL Repairs

With a long pause without a show we are doing some badly needed repairs and updates to the MTL. A group, Lester, Steve T, Dave, Chris, Charley and Mike, met at Charley's to start the work on Saturday May 16 to start the project. We started with the 6' modules to see how hard it was going to be to remove the backboards from the scenery. This proved to be fairly easy so we then proceeded to remove the side braces that were bad. The new side braces were precut to save time only Mike made an 1/8" error in the measurements so we had to go and get more wood to continue. While the wood run was on the rest of us worked on the new shipping system we had come up with. This part of the project proved to be trial & error as there was a flaw in the design. We slept on it and Sunday morning Charley and Lester each had a different idea and so we tried both and settled for Lester's. We connected the first two modules together and put them in the rack to see how they fit and it worked great so we repaired the next two 6's. We packed up the trailer for the Georgetown show and will be planning other work sessions around Charley's schedule. If you would like to work on this project contact Charley and work out a work session date.

Royal Gorge Route & Cripple Creek Railroad

The club is taking reservations for both trips. These are open to family and friends so invite them. We are collecting the money as well as we have to pay the Royal Gorge Route their money 30 days before the event. That means if you are riding the Royal Gorge train your money needs to be in to the club by July 9. We have 20 seats reserved at this time and can add more if needed. So please reserve your seats as soon as possible. To do this there is a signup sheet in the club room or you can e-mail Mike and let him know. I lost my notes so I think the price is $42 or $49 per person.

The club is also collecting the Cripple Creek Railroad. Prices are Adult $10.75, Senior 65 & over $9.75 and kids 12 & under $6.75. Sign up for this trip as the aspen should be in full display by then.

Colorado Railroad Museum Trip

The Club will be going on this trip on July 12. This is the 50th anniversary of the museum. The club will be setting up the time to leave and the meeting place so we can carpool up. It will be a steam up day and you can ride a Galloping Goose.

Sickness & Health

As most of you may know Superintendant Rick Shumpert was in the hospital a couple of times and is now doing well and on the road to recovery.

Member Steve McWhirt has also been in & out of the hospital the last couple of months and is now doing better and we should see him again by the end of June.
